Repetition Drill :The teacher says models
(the word or phrases) and the students
Substitution Drill : Student required to
replace one word with another word.
Teacher : I study in the morning.
Student : I study in the morning.
They can replace a word with a pronoun,
number, or gender and make some
Transformational Drill : Students are
required to change sentences from negative
to positive, from positive to interrogative,
depending on the instruction from the
Teacher : I go to school. We?
Student : We go to school.
Teacher : They?
Student : They go to school.
Response Drill : Student respond to
somebody’s sentence and the drill may
involve “wh” questions or “yes/no”
(Positive to Interrogative)
Teacher: The book is new.
Student: Is the book new?
Chain Drill : The teacher begins to chain
by greeting or asking him a question. Then,
students responds and turns to the student
sitting next to him. The first student greets
or asks a question of the second student and
the chain continues.
Teacher: Does he go to school?
Student: Yes, he does.
Student: No, he does not.
