Egg Osmosis Experiment By Nathan Warkentin
Purpose The purpose is to observe osmosis in a cell. 1. Place eggs in vinegar to remove shell. 2. Measure weight of egg with balance. 3. Measure size of egg with measuring tape. 4.Place one egg in water and the other in corn syrup. 5. Weigh and measure the eggs again.

Observations Before After After the egg went in vinegar the egg was bouncy and squishy. The top of the water was foamy. Corn Syrup Weight Weight The shell came off. 71.5 50.6 After the egg was in water for 24 Size Size hours it was bigger. 16 cm 14.5 cm After the egg sat in corn syrup for 24 hours it looked deflated. ConclusionWater: Water egg got larger because water moved into the egg. Due to the fact that egg had lower concentration than water.Hypothesis: My hypothesis was right, it was heavy. My size and look were both wrong, I thought it would be same size. But it was bigger.
ConclusionCorn syrup: Water move out of corn syrup egg. Corn syrup egg got smaller. The water moved from higher concentration to lower. This is osmosis.Hypothesis: I said it would be heavier and bigger But it was lighter and smaller. I said it would look different and it did It was more yellow and it was deflated.
