PolynesiaPolynesia is a densely populated area of the world. For example if you take allof the independent countries and find an average population density, you’llfind it is very small. Country Name New Zealand Tonga Samoa Tuvalu Population 4,398,385 104,000 179,000 12,373 Area 268,021 km2 748 km2 2,831 km2 28 km2Population Density 19.1 per km2 139 per 63.2 per km2 475.88 per km2 km2The world’s population density is 50.95. The average population density forthe four independent Polynesian islands is 340.27. With is well above theworlds average.Geographically, Polynesia is a stretch ofislands, which go from Oceania to theAmericas through the Pacific Ocean. Many of the islands are ex French orBritish colonies. This probably has a lotto do with the high population densityaround Polynesia. In New Zealand forexample, around 78% of people are ofEuropean descent. Most of the Europeanswent centuries ago, but still, due to thegood weather more Europeans are goingover. One of the reasons that there is a highpopulation density in Polynesia is that they form stepping stones fromOceania and the Americas. This meant that when native Americans andNative Oceania’s were going to explore, they would keep hopping from islandto island, leaving some people at each island, which led to a high populationdensity.Because of heavy British influence in Polynesia, most islands have MajorRugby Union teams, regardless of size. Most of the teams have successfulplayers who, like in football, play in the leagues of Europe. So exports ofRugby players and of Produce are one of the things the Polynesian islandsrely on for a good economy. Some of Polynesia’s main exports of produceinclude wine, fruit, coffee, vanilla and cocoa beans.
