foof makes desirable soft furnishings for Apple laptops and iPods
foof started in Dublin, Ireland in mid 2004, creating their first prototype foofbag for the 12" ibook. They
then started making more foofbag sizes and extended their range. A month later, they introduced the
foofpod, for iPod users and have since introduced all types of fabrics ranging from corduroy and denim
to hard-to-obtain Kimono Obi polyester. foof products are now made in Australia, from imported fabrics
from Ireland, Scotland, England, Japan, Korea and China.
In the last year, foof has become a subcultural (or niche) international brand, offering an alternative
funky protective sleeve that is not made from neoprene, rubber or foam. People who buy foof products
like their fabrics real and their furnishings simple. No zippers, no straps, no buckles.
foof products offer scratch and dust protection and the inner lining minimizes vertical scratching often
found with other plastic cases. As a testament to iPod scratch protection, their test 40gb iPod has
been inserted into different foofpods over 10,000 times. Each foofpod they make is quality checked
and hand tested with a real iPod (often playing music). They have tested foof products out in the field
being used extensively everyday.
foof products are all handmade, by people who get paid a decent wage. They do not condone
minimum wage slave labour. At foof they have a strong moral obligation to not resort to employing
factory workers in the third world so that they can offer a more competitive product to the first world.
They do not like excessive packaging, so you may not find them in many mainstream retail shops
around the world. As more people start lusting after real humanised products, foof products may turn
up in a niche shop just around the corner from you.
They believe in making beautiful products that are simple but well made. They also believe in
customer service with a personal touch. You don't have to go far to see the faces behind foof. They're
not some invisible business. They are real people.
P.S. ‘foof’ is simply, the nickname of the person who makes your foof products!
