PETTICOAT PARLOUR INTRODUCES
INNOVATIVE LASER TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY!
Finally, thanks to a new, state of the art machine which is one of the first of its kind in South
Africa, laser hair removal can now be performed without any pain at all!
Situated on Somerset Road in Green Point, Petticoat Parlour, a funky retro style salon,
provides a range of treatments, including massages, body wraps, waxing, threading, lash
extensions and tinting, spray and sun bed tanning, biosculpture and gelish treatments,
various facial treatments and body exfoliations, using only top brands, such as Dermalogica,
Guinot, Nimue and Australia’s Sun FX.
Now, added to their extensive range of services is a unique, state of the art machine that
provides pain free laser treatment that can be used all year round.
According to The Private Clinic of Harley Street in London, the main advantages of using
Laser over IPL (Intensed Pulsed Light) treatments are:
Laser technology is much more effective, and achieves substantially better results that
IPL. Ninety percent of patients who have undergone laser treatment experience
permanent hair reduction or long term hair removal after 3 to 5 sessions.
Lasers are far more precise, and can selectively target dark, coarse hairs, whilst leaving
the surrounding skin undamaged.
Because the heat is absorbed by the follicle, and not the skin, there is a decreased risk of
burning when using Laser machines.
Laser machines produce a single wavelength of light, which has a very concentrated
beam and specific target (the melanin in the hair follicle).
Each laser pulse takes a fraction of a second and can treat several hairs at a time.
Laser settings can be adjusted to suit a client’s specific skin tone and hair colour.
Laser hair removal can be used to treat larger body areas.
Laser technology is safe for all skin colours, whereas IPL can cause burns on darker skin
Thick, curly hair can cause folliculitis, which is a skin condition caused by ingrown hairs
that irritate the skin and cause itching, infection, bumps and scarring. More often than
ever we see gentleman of all ages who want to rid themselves of unwanted hair from all
over the body.
“We are extremely excited about our new Diode Laser technology” says Wendy Chait, owner
of Petticoat Parlour, “This Laser is safer for darker skin types and can treat all hair colours
due to its unique technology. Whereas other systems on the market simply use pure laser,
the Diode Laser, combined with Radio Frequency, which is colour blind, does not make it
dependent upon the melanin in the skin.
Additionally, the Diode Laser is extremely safe due to the active dermal monitoring that takes
place throughout the entire treatment, ensuring that each time a pulse is delivered, the skin’s
impedance is measured and, should the impedance be too high, no further pulses will be
The treatment time of the Diode Laser is also much faster in comparison to other systems on
the market as it delivers 10 pulses per second, so a man’s entire back can be easily treated in
Additionally, our Laser works with a cooling tip for further patient safety and effectiveness.
Hence, this revolutionary new technology finally allows pain free hair removal without any
down-time required at all. Clients can therefore return to normal activities immediately after
Furthermore, the Laser is approved by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which was
empowered by the US Congress to enforce the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, which
includes the regulation of laser technology.
We are tremendously excited about this new addition to our range of services at Petticoat
Parlour, particularly as we can now welcome more gents to indulge in this exclusive and
innovative new treatment as well”.
