Umber is a controlled product
from a manganese enriched form
of goethite, a naturally occurring
inorganic iron oxide. It is light-
fast, insoluble in water, resistant
to alkalis and weak acids and
non-reactive with solvents, oils,
and most resins.
Available in a burnt umber state
as Redwood or Redwood GS.
Why use NATURAL
Iron Oxide Pigments
in Colored Block and
Ochre and Umber are the most economical colorants in
the pigment industry. Ochre can be used alone to create
a natural buff color, or to significantly reduce the amount
of the more expensive synthetic yellow iron oxide.
As an iron oxide, the color is permanent and will not fade
or wash out.
New Riverside Ochre has decades of mineral reserves and
up to six years of stock piled mined ore ready for pro-
cessing. Orders ship promptly from our production facility
in Cartersville, GA in 50 lb. paper bags, one ton super
sacks, or bulk trucks. Custom packaging is also available.
Curry N500 (NIROXTM
500) are concentrated ochre
pigments with an average particle size of <1 micron and 6
Hegman grind. The particle size, iron oxide concentration
and refractive index of 2.83 make it an excellent pigment
for concrete products, blocks, pavers, and other
applications where a buff color and good opacity are
desired. It is available as a powder or in a granular form.
Custom color matches can be provided.
Unlike the synthetic colorants which are often produced in
China and can have potential pricing variability, New
Riverside Ochre mines the natural iron oxide in the USA
and can offer longer-term pricing stability.
