While serving as the battalion port detachment commander I also served as the Liaison Officer at
the US Embassy in Muscat, Oman. I provided transportation expertise as the 595th
to the Department of State and the Office of Military Cooperation.

Duties: Commanded a forward deployed transportation detachment consisting of 7 Soldiers
providing mission command operating within Oman. Responsible for conducting and
management of the flow of surface operations, cargo clearance tracking, cargo transfer and
staging for inbound and outbound transportation operations, cargo documentation, container
management, sensitive and hazardous material (HAZMAT) special handling and convoy
operations from Thumrait Air Base (TRAB) to the Port of Salalah in support of OPERATION
Enduring Freedom (OEF). Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) responsible
for monitoring and managing 4 contracts in excess of $5.8 million. Advised the Battalion
Headquarters on all movements related to Oman.
To accomplish this I had to coordinate movement operations between the local Omani
government, US Contractors, and US Air Force. I was the 840th
representative in Oman and
would advise my commander on issues and updated him as needed.

Duties: Commanded a deploying port management transportation detachment consisting of 21
Soldiers. Providing mission command and control. Responsible for ensuring all Soldiers are

To accomplish this I had to plan, and coordinate training between the training units, and civilian
contractors on Fort Dix, NJ. This included tracking all Soldiers training, medical and personal
paperwork to ensure all assigned Soldiers were medically, personally and properly trained to
deploy to a combat zone.
