engineering degree has given me great problem solving ability with a creative edge and a passion for
technology. Experience in the automotive industry has allowed me to develop an ideal balance
between project management and technical skills/knowledge.
Jaguar Land Rover | Product Development Engineer 01/09/2013 — Present
The JLR graduate scheme gave me the opportunity to work across the business on a diverse range of
projects. When I was not on a placement I returned to Vehicle Engineering during these two years.
Range Rover Vehicle Engineering (Home Department – 14 months in total from Sep 13’ –Sep 15')
I played a valuable role in delivering the 2016 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport mainly in the
prototype planning stage where I helped to reduce the number of vehicles required in order to meet
the program budget. This was an approximate saving of £150k. I developed my project management
skills a great deal in this time and became a stronger communicator with much more assertiveness.
This role required a great deal of problem solving skills in the constraints of developing a luxury
product and ensuring customer expectations were still met or exceeded.
Hybrids Engineering (6th
Jan 2014 – 11th
In three months I learnt the coding language for MATLAB and developed a program to increase the
efficiency of the vehicle management software development process for hybrid vehicles. This required
complete self-management of the project and facilitation of collaboration between sub-departments to
increase the reach of the program. The program resulted in reducing ~4 hours, in some cases, of in
vehicle testing to an hour of simulation on a computer. Consequently, this saves the company money in
engineer’s time and reduces the requirement for prototype vehicle which cost ~£35k - £100k each. This
project demonstrated my ability to learn very quickly and make a significant contribution in a short
space of time.
Durability & Reliability (30th

I supported engineers in China to deliver the first Range Rover Evoque manufactured in the new
Chinese factory. This role was very reactive and involved solving/managing issues quickly and
effectively. I helped to solve major engineering issues which would have prevented the ability for the
vehicle to be sold. Working with Chinese engineers enhanced my adaptability and communication skills
as you have to take a very different approach to achieve objectives and remain respectful to their
working culture which is very different to the UK.

My final four month project involved managing a small group of interns as part of a research team.
I devised a feasibility project researching the viability of applications involving second hand electric
vehicle batteries. This included a cost benefit analysis, creating relationships with external companies
such as EDF Energy and specialist consultancies e.g. Future Transport Systems, obtaining project
approval and finance from the director of research. This project was the first to look into this and will
result in improved lifecycle profitability of potential future products. These four months gave me great
responsibility which developed my management skills and displayed my ability to create relationships
with external companies.
