Year In ReviewANNUAL
2014 was our first year of active gift giving at the Namaste
Foundation, and we’re proud to share that we supported 20+
nonprofits with over $300,000 in gifts. We are inspired by the
incredible work these organizations are doing to create a more
This year we also developed our Namaste Foundation brand
design and published several blog posts. We’re excited to
keep adding stories to www.namaste.org, and we hope you’ll
find the website to be a useful destination for insights about
nonprofits and philanthropy.
In the spirit of transparency and sharing, this Annual Report
provides more detail about the organizations we supported in
2014, along with our Namaste Foundation financial details and
website statistics. If you have any questions or would like to

education. The organization offers online training courses for
adults to learn mindfulness and use it with youth. The Mindful

Loomio is free and open source software for anyone, anywhere,
to participate in decisions that affect them. Loomio is being
built by a core team in Wellington, New Zealand, and a wider

Doctors Without Borders
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), or Doctors Without Borders,
is an international humanitarian-aid non-governmental
organization and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, best known for its
projects in war-torn regions and developing countries facing
endemic diseases. The organization seeks to provide medical aid

IMPACT GIFTS (Cont.)
GiveDirectly gives cash directly to poor households in Africa
via mobile transfers. Using the latest technology, GiveDirectly
locates recipients, integrates them into electronic payments
networks, and monitor transfers end-to-end. GiveDirectly
aims to reshape international giving, making direct transfers to
the poor the benchmark against which other, more expensive

Burning Man Arts supports and promotes community,

coexisting with art to the rest of the world, with the vision that
community-driven, inclusive, and interactive art is vital to a

10 Books A Home is an early childhood education nonprofit
whose mission is to close the achievement gap by ensuring low-
income preschoolers are positioned in their homes for school
success. 10BH brings volunteer Role Models into the homes of
Learners to provide them and their parents with 1-on-1 tutoring,

Dome to Dish builds sustainable dome greenhouses
to implement school garden programmes low-income
communities in New Zealand. Led by Michelle Leslie-McArthur
and part of the Kids Kai Time Charitable Trust, Dome to Dish

Silicon Valley Gives
Silicon Valley Gives is a 24-hour online fundraising effort,
hosted by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation with the
help of sponsors, offering thousands of nonprofits the chance
to raise millions of dollars. During the inaugural SV Gives
Day event, held May 6, 2014, nearly 15,000 individual donors
contributed just over $8 million to charities based in three

DreamCatchers works in affluent communities and school
districts, targeting students from low-income families who are
struggling to keep up with their more privileged classmates.
DreamCatchers creates afterschool classrooms for these

Committee for Green Foothills
The Committee for Green Foothills protects the open spaces,

One Million Lights
One Million Lights’ mission is to improve the daily lives of
children and adults by providing clean and healthy lighting.
The organization’s goal is to distribute one million (1,000,000)
solar lights to replace dangerous and polluting kerosene lamps.
These solar lights enable children to study at night and adults
to extend their workday, all while eliminating carbon emissions,
improving household health, and greatly increasing income

The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship Bay Area works
with teachers in schools across the Bay Area to implement
NFTE programs in their classrooms. Over the course of a

school day. NFTE’s curriculum is rooted in experiential
