Women’s Groups Endorse Kathleen Murphy
McLean, Va.— NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia, officially announced their
endorsement of Kathleen Murphy’s bid for the House of Delegates in the 34th
District. They join Emily’s List, Virginia NOW, The Farm Team and Women’s
Strike Force who have also pledged their support for Murphy.
NARAL is the leading advocacy organization for women’s health issues in
Virginia. They recognize the importance of candidates who are willing to make a
stand to protect a woman’s right to make her own health decisions.
“Voters in the 34th district are incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to
elect pro-choice candidate Kathleen Murphy and remove Delegate Barbara
Comstock from office,” said Tarina Keene, executive director of NARAL Pro-
Choice Virginia. “Kathleen Murphy is a dedicated pro-choice candidate who will
fight her hardest to expand access to critical healthcare services and keep
government out of women’s personal medical decisions.”
“I am proud to receive such strong support from women’s groups,” said Murphy.
“It is my sincere belief that women deserve access to important healthcare
options including contraception, mammograms, cervical cancer screenings and
other preventative care.”
Kathleen received the endorsement of nearly every major woman’s organization
in Northern Virginia sending a clear signal about Barbara Comstock’s positions.
Comstock has repeatedly voted against women’s rights issues. She voted to limit
state funding of women’s health clinics restricting the rights of women to access
important health care. Comstock also voted for a “personhood” bill that would
outlaw many forms of birth control and to repeal HPV vaccinations
Kathleen Murphy, a longtime community activist and resident of McLean, is
running to represent the 34th district in the Virginia House of Delegates. The
34th district includes all of Great Falls, parts of McLean, Tysons, Wolf Trap,
Vienna, Potomac Falls, and Sterling. More information about Kathleen Murphy
