  • 1. IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 3, 2011 Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble Hosts Its Annual Summer Soirée Organization aims to raise money and awareness for multidisciplinary arts programs Chicago—In hopes of raising money for educational outreach programs for low-income students, Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble (CDE) will be hosting its annual Summer Soirée on Tuesday, June 21st from 7-10pm. The event will be held at the Th!nk Art Gallery and Policy Salon (670 W. Hubbard). Also celebrating its 10th year as a multidisciplinary arts organization that creates socially conscious performances and outreach programs, CDE plans to unveil its newest production this year, based on the poetry of Rumi. “Over the last year, I've had a chance to really take stock of all the work that Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble has done,” said Ellyzabeth Adler, Founder and Executive Director of CDE. “I never thought when I founded the organization that we would have grown to where we are—serving over 2,500 children a year, 6 year long residences, 8 full length original productions, 10 concert length works—and we continue to grow through the help of the many talented individuals and organizations that we partner with to make this all happen.” The Summer Soirée will feature food, drink, and music by local musicians Son Del Viento, along with a sneak preview of the CDE’s upcoming performance, Mirrors. Guests will also have the opportunity to win prizes through the popular Balloon Pop Raffle. Tickets can be purchased in advanced on the CDE’s website for $30, or be purchased at the door for $35. The organization aims to raise $10,000 for its ensemble performances and arts education outreach programs for low-income students. “I think that if we want to change our communities, we need to start with education, which is why we work with 90% under served and at risk youth,” said Adler. “We as artists need to be the voice of the community, which is why CDE's slogan is ‘Performance With A Purpose.’” The Summer Soirée is sponsored by Th!nkArt Gallery, One Hour Tees, Printers Row Wine Shop and Betancourt Realty.
