KIND OF TEKS
1. Recount text is a text which has social function to retell past events experiences
for the purpose of informing and entertaining.
2. A recount text has the following generic /schematic structure.
Orientations : provides the setting and introduce participants.
Events : tell what happened, in what sequence
Re- orientation : optional closure of events

Narrative is the most famous type of any text. Various purposes are communicated in a narrative type. However the
way it is constructed is describing certain event, character or phenomenon in detail. Narrative prefer showing to telling and
that the power of narrative. Reader will feel as he show by him self what happen in the text. Actually narrative can be fiction
such as short story or novel and non-fiction like memoirs.
According to Madison smart Bell, the narrative design, or what we call form or structure, is of first and final
importance to any work of fiction. In that structure, we will find elements of story; characterization, point of view, theme and
plot. Plot is the way of the story constructed.
When we read a text, we can call it narrative as we see the following generic structure inside the text:
You have to introduce the characters or participant and informing the plot of the story, that consist of place, time, etc.
You should describe the rising crisis events of the story.
You have to show the way of actor or participant solved the problems.
You might write the message from the story and you could write the moral values of the story at the end of paragraph. It is
optional, you can put reorientation on your story or not.
A narrative text has these features:
§Simple past tense
You have to use simple past tense because narrative text tells about the event which already happened.
§Direct speech dialogues
You should use direct speech to show the conversation in that story.
§Adverb and adverbial
You should use adverb and adverbial phrases to locate the particular incidents or events.
§The events are in chronological order
You have to write narrative text with sequence of event, in order to make the story chronological.
1.Duck and Turtle
Two ducks who lived in a big lake had a friend who was a turtle. One year there was a very little rain and
the lake began to dry up. One of the ducks said to the other, “Soon, there’ll be no water in this lake. Let’s go and look

Once, a cap seller was passing through a jungle. He was very tired and

the monkeys took off the caps and threw the caps down on the ground. Quickly,
he stood up and collected the caps, put them back into his bag and went away.
The Definition and Purpose of Descriptive Text
Descriptive text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to
describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing.
The Generic Structure of Descriptive Text
Descriptive text has structure as below:
Identification; identifying the phenomenon to be described.
Description; describing the phenomenon in parts, qualities, or/and characteristics.
The Language Feature of Descriptive Text
Using attributive and identifying process.
Using adjective and classifiers in nominal group.
Using simple present tense
Descriptive text is a type that is widely used in everyday life to describe objects,
animals and so forth. Descriptive Text is an English text for mengggmbarkan what

My mother is a beautiful person. She is not tall but not short, and she has
curly hair and brown. Her eyes color are like honey and her color skin color light

am going to sleep or went I wake up or when I am going to go to some places, she
always give me a kiss, and when the family have a problem she always be with us to

Yuta is one of the 150 International students at the ELC of Brigham Young
University. He is from Japan. He grew up in Japan, and he is 19 years old.
There are six people in his family, a father, a mother, three sisters and

The newest star at the National Zoo in Washington has gotten her first taste of the spotlight.
Giant panda cub Bao Bao made her debut Saturday in front of visitors from the zoo's members‘
club. The zoo is allowing its members exclusive viewing opportunities before the four-and-a-half-month
bear appears for the first time before the general public next Saturday.
Bao Bao got her name -- Chinese for "precious" or "treasure" -- through an online vote. In
keeping with Chinese naming tradition, U.S. zoos typically do not name their pandas until they turn
100 days old.
The giant panda is one of the world's most endangered species, and a female born in captivity is
rare and a reason for celebration.
Bao Bao's parents are the National Zoo's female panda Mei Xiang and male panda Tian Tian. Her
birth on August 23 was broadcast live on the zoo's panda cam.
Only about 1,600 giant pandas are estimated to be living in the wild and some 300 in captivity –
most of them in China.
