Serving customers throughout the world, ADP Dealer Services, Inc.,
a subsidiary of Automatic Data Processing, Inc., is committed to offering
dealerships the most comprehensive technology solutions on the market.
The company serves auto, truck, motorcycle, marine, recreational
vehicle and heavy equipment dealerships in about 100 countries. ADP’s
integrated solutions provide accurate, real-time information, allowing
dealerships to make faster, better decisions and helping them to eliminate
manual processes and streamline business.
Like many businesses across the country, ADP Dealer Services relies on high-speed PCs to efficiently serve customers and run the company’s
global operations. ADP was looking to refresh the company’s laptop and desktop computers across the U.S. in order to better deliver leading
technology solutions. They were looking for a new fleet of performance PCs that would enable employees to be more productive, efficient and
competitive in the market.
ADP sought the right vendor to work with on deployment of the new PCs because the company’s IT department wasn’t equipped to deal with a
large-scale refresh. It was important to find a company that could offer a hardware solution for a large workforce as well as strong imaging
services to help complete the product refresh.
ADP employees were previously utilizing a full inventory of PCs from another vendor but were concerned with the long-term performance. The
performance was beginning to slow significantly, causing frustration among employees. ADP also saw an increase in downtime due to the growing
number of PC repair requests.
ADP Dealer Services considered all major PC makers but eventually selected Lenovo for its quality reputation, fair pricing and customized imaging
and rollout services – via partner Valcom. ADP was impressed with the ability of Lenovo’s image design service to maximize its hardware investment.
BUSINESS SERVICE GIANT Turns to Lenovo for High Performance
PCs and Seamless Imaging Services
Lenovo’s image design services save customer time and money during nationwide PC refresh
“We were especially pleased with the remote migration process,
in which the PCs were shipped overnight to the configuration
center, migrated and delivered back to our employees in just a
day and a half.”

Lenovo’s high-performance products and smooth, top-notch imaging services were the perfect solution for ADP Dealer Services’ refresh. The
company partnered with Lenovo and Valcom for the new PC rollout, which included a combination of on-site and remote migration For the remote
migrations, Valcom helped stage the PCs, label them, install baseline software and transfer data before shipping the new PCs. ADP employees
were shipped a packing kit two weeks in advance of the refresh and were asked to ship their system overnight to Valcom’s configuration center.
Their data was migrated from the legacy system to a new Valcom system that had been built with one of the customer’s images. The new system
was then shipped back overnight to the end user. With Lenovo and Valcom handling the overall configuration and deployment process, ADP was
able to minimize downtime during the entire refresh project.
“Thanks to Lenovo and Valcom, both on-site and remote migrations were completed quickly and efficiently,” said Joan Stromberg, project manager,
ADP Dealer Services. “We were especially pleased with the remote migration process, in which the PCs were shipped overnight to the configuration
center, migrated and delivered back to our employees in just a day and a half.”
The upgrade included 3,000 systems nationwide with various Lenovo ThinkPad PCs. The Lenovo products were also easy for ADP Dealer Services’
employees to use, which meant they were back up and running with minimal training from IT.
The on-site and remote migrations were largely a success because of the speedy and efficient replacement and shipping process provided by
Valcom. The quick day-and-a-half turnaround ensured there was very little disruption in ADP employees’ work. The limited downtime also meant
that ADP was able to provide continuous and reliable services to its own customers. Across the company, the new Lenovo laptop and desktop PCs
also offered faster boot times and enhanced dependability. The PCs provided ADP employees access to a better processor and more RAM, allowing
programs run faster – therefore increasing productivity. The extended battery life and optimized operating system were also added benefits.
Overall, ADP’s decision to use Lenovo’s products and imaging services in its PC refresh helped reduce downtime among global staff, and thus
allowed them to provide more reliable service to customers.
“Thanks to Lenovo and Valcom, both on-site and remote migrations were completed quickly and efficiently,”
