Maxine Kollasch, IHM 419.517.4087 A Nun’s Life Ministry appoints Julie Brown as Director of Philanthropy January 19, 2016, Toledo, Ohio – A Nun’s Life Ministry, a pioneer in the use of Internet technologies and social media for online ministry, has appointed Ms. Julie Brown as Director of Philanthropy, effective March 14. Ms. Brown will join the executive team as the principal philanthropy officer, responsible for leading a variety of programs to foster relationships and partnerships to advance the mission of A Nun’s Life Ministry. “Ms. Brown brings great expertise across a variety of areas to support the mission of A Nun’s Life—helping people discover and grow in their vocation, wherever God is calling them,” said Sister Julie Vieira, IHM, co-founder of the ministry. “We’re delighted not only by her professional knowledge in areas such as program development, management, and fundraising, but also by her strong commitment to compassion, relationships, and innovation for mission—values that are at the heart of A Nun’s Life Ministry.” “A Nun’s Life Ministry was created on the Internet in 2006 and now engages with people in over 200 countries worldwide--and our presence and ministry are growing!” said Sister Maxine Kollasch, IHM, co- founder. “Ms. Brown will play a key role in helping the ministry continue be a vital pastoral presence online, helping people grow in their relationship with God and in serving others.” Prior to joining A Nun’s Life Ministry, Ms. Brown served for seven years as Program Director at The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation, which strives to improve quality of life in the region with a particular focus on vulnerable populations. While there, she initiated the Schneider Circle, a cohort approach to nonprofit capacity building, which received the Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award in 2013. She also played a key role in the Foundation’s social media storytelling campaign, recipient of the 2013 Gold Award for Fundraising Excellence. Ms. Brown previously served as Executive Director of the food pantry CHOPIN Hall, and Director of Hancock Leadership, a community leadership initiative. Ms. Brown has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The Ohio State University, is certified in nonprofit management by Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, and is studying the consequences of privilege and oppression in the graduate Native American Studies program at Montana State University. ____________________________________________________________________________________ A Nun’s Life Ministry (NL) is an Internet-based ministry at and on social media. The ministry was founded in 2006 on the belief that each person is called by God to a vocation that enriches the individual and the world. A Nun’s Life fosters a culture of vocation online by engaging with people from over 200 countries about spirituality, discernment, religious life, and many other topics. It does this in highly interactive and pastoral ways, using blogs, livestreaming podcasts and chat, and social media events.
