A former FBI special agent, John Guandolo has
dedicated himself to the field of
counterterrorism and founded
UnderstandingTheThreat.com. He also served
as an officer in the Marine Corps and a CPR
and first aid instructor with the American Red
Cross. Alongside his career, John Guandolo
supports the work of organizations such as the
National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
As an organization dedicated to finding cures
for multiple sclerosis, the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society supports vitamin D research.
The society funded preclinical studies for
supplementation of vitamin D and now funds
several clinical trials on its use, including the
-Harvey Checkoway, PhD, works with the
National Cancer Institute and the University of
Minnesota to compare UVB exposure between
people with MS and people without MS.
-Ellen Mowry, MD, MCR, leads a study at Johns
Hopkins University on the benefits of higher
doses of vitamin D versus the current
-At the Harvard School of Public Health,
Boston, Alberto Ascherio, MD, DrPH,
conducts a study on blood samples to
evaluate potential connections between
vitamin D levels, cigarette smoking, and
EBV infection on the progression of MS.
