Your Dream Vacation
South facing pools are generally warmer than pools that face in any
other direction. South facing pools have the advantage of the sun
from sunrise to sunset in all four seasons of the year. West facing
pools have sun from noon to sunset, while east and north facing
pools have the least sun.
Pool heat is recommended from Oct 1- April 30th.
If you are traveling during these months you may
want to watch the weather forecast before your
trip. If the weather is consistently below 70
degrees you may want to opt in for the pool heat.
If you decide to opt in for the pool heat, have it
turned on the day before you arrive.
Your pool will be warmed to a daytime
temperature of between 75 and 80 degrees
Fahrenheit for your arrival. It takes the pool 24-
48 hours to heat up. All pool heat pumps are
operated on a timer and do not operate at night
time due to local bylaws. You will find that your
pool is noticeably cooler at night. Be sure to use
a pool blanket, if provided, to preserve the heat
within the pool.
Most vacation rental homes charge between $25-35* nightly for pool
heat. Prices are generally determined by the size of the pool. Pool
heat is most often electrically heated. Electric pool heaters don't
operate efficiently below 55 degrees. If the air temperature in the
morning is lower than 55 degrees - or if there is a wind chill, your
pool pump will turn on, but it will not heat the pool.

For us, having the pool heat during our winter month visits has
been an absolute delight. We visited last March with our kids who
were on spring break. After the first day, my son requested we turn
on the pool heat. What a difference it made and we all looked
forward to using the pool in the evenings when we returned home
from the parks.
