The blue Morpho Butterfly
Classification the blue morpho butterfly is a little creature with wings bigger than its body size.
Description The Blue Morpho is a delicate harmless animal with silky blue wings. Its blue wings have small, brown dots at the tip and colours of brown, red, black and grey underneath.
Habitat The Blue Morpho likes the climates of the jungle of south and central America in the canopy.
Movement The beautiful blue Morpho butterfly moves quickly flapping it’s blue wings as fast as it can.
Feeding The main diet of the blue Morpho is nectar, rotting fruit, pollen and tree sap but this is not all as the blue Morpho also likes these plants cassia, daisy, lilac and honeysuckle. All butterflies have to drink so they go to a puddle or a damp spot and suck water through their proboscis. Cassia
Breeding The blue Morpho male tries to attract the female and this may take along time so after they have mated the female will lay her eggs 2-3 weeks later. To protect her eggs she will glue the eggs to a leaf and after that the eggs are on their own. When the eggs hatch a larva comes out and will turn into caterpillars.
Other facts The male blue morpho are a very strong blue while on the other hand the females are light blue or not blue at all.
