Transcripts - Presenting characters
We were very influenced by the show Misfits. This TV series
became very popular through how the characters were
presented. Firstly, the majority of the actors are young,
therefore teenage generation are able to relate with what
they say and how they act on screen. Due to the fact it is set
in South-East London also adds a sense of familiarity, it
appears normal due to this location which enhances
verisimilitude. As the storyline progresses we soon realise
everything is normal except for the characters we are
introduced to. Portraying teenagers with superpowers in
London is achieved through keeping it a secret between
themselves, as life around them carries on as normal.
In our opening sequence we are going to represent David as initially blending in
with the crowd, but there is something about him that is not normal ( because he
is able to travel between time). We needed to research to how to convey that he
is not normal and has superhuman qualities.
From my research I saw that we can learn about a character in many different
ways. We can learn by what they do and what they say. We can also learn by what
other characters say about them and how they react to those characters. I also
found out that what they wear and their facial expression also adds to the
qualities of the character. Furthermore I found that music is also a very big factor
that influences how the audience perceive the character.
In our opening sequence to portray David as blending in with society by something
that is not right about him (being not normal). We should think about how he is
dressed and his actions that reflect on his personality and the kind of music that
should be played while he is on screen to attempt to tell the audience what sort of
a person he is.
