Prices of music magazinesQ, NME, Vibe, Kerrang, Rolling stone
Q magazine has a priceof £3.70 an issue and youcan get a whole yearssubscription for £30 whichworks out at £2.50 anissue. I think this is agood strategy to take as itconvinces the user totake out a subscription asit works out at a betterprice. This will howeverbring in more sales for thecompany.
NME price per issue is£2.20 however thesubscription can bebought for a year for£74.99 this works out at£1.47 an issue so againthe strategy is toconvince the users tobuy more issues byselling them more issuesfor a cheaper price thana one off purchase.
Vibe magazine is amagazine that links to theidea of my magazine. So itwould be ideal to have aprice range similar to thisas this magazine is reallycompetitive in the market.Vibe magazine subscriberspay £9.95 for 6 issueswhich works out at £1.60 amagazine I feel that this isa very cheap price for themagazine and I feel I cancharge more for themagazine I am going tocreate.
Kerrang magazine is notlinked to my genre howeverit will be good to see whatthe other music magazinesin the market sell for.Kerrang sells for £7.50 amonth which works out at£1.88 an issue. This againis a very cheap price for amagazine which is thereason why the magazineis successful in the currentmusic magazine market.
Rolling stone magazine isalso another well knownand popular musicmagazine. Currently youcan subscribe to themagazine for £19.95 a yearbut you can expect to payup to £4.95 per issue soagain this magazine istrying to persuade you tosubscribe to the magazineas this means the companywill have continuousincome from thesubscribers.
ConclusionO I feel as though this research has been really helpful as I have now seen that my magazine could be priced between £1.60 to £4.95 and I have also seen that offering a cheaper subscription can help to make the magazine more competitive. This means that I should have a price around £2-£3 and offer a subscription so that my magazine can be successful in the current magazine market.
