• Jan Szczepanik (born June 13, 1872 in Rudniki, died. April 18, 1926 in Tarnow )Polish teacher, inventorcalled "Polish Edison" and "Galician genius." Described in two articles by Mark Twain.
Childhood and youth • Illegitimate son of Marianna, thedaughter of farmers from Zręcina. Raisedby Salomea and Lawrence Gradowiczów in Krosno, where he attended the folk school. Then he studied at the Gymnasium in Jaslo and seminary teacher in Krakow. Until 1896, he worked as a teacher, first in Potok, followed by Korczyn and Lubatówce.

Curiosities :• Bulletproof vest brought fame to John Szczepanikowi around the world, defended against attack Spanish King Alfonso XIII.
